ABOUT TIARA

A personal journey.
A purposeful practice.

Tiara’s own migration story shapes how she practises law today. Newly admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales, she found herself just weeks from her visa expiring, ineligible for the standard graduate visa pathway most international students rely on. Rather than accept the odds, she researched every available option herself, secured expedited state nomination, and lodged her permanent residency application with a single day to spare. She received her grant that December. That experience gave her a first-hand understanding of the uncertainty, pressure and vulnerability her clients face, and it’s why immigration law became more than a specialty for her. It became personal.

Tiara began her legal career in Sri Lanka, where she was admitted to the highly competitive Sri Lanka Law College among the top candidates nationally and became one of the youngest practising lawyers in the country at 22. After relocating to Australia, she requalified through Queensland University of Technology and was admitted as a solicitor in New South Wales in July 2018.

Since then, Tiara has built deep expertise across the full spectrum of Australian immigration law, including skilled migration, employer sponsorship, partner and family visas, citizenship, visa cancellations and character matters, Ministerial Intervention requests, and merits review before the Administrative Review Tribunal. Her experience spans boutique immigration practice, corporate immigration at a Big Four professional services firm, and leadership roles supervising and training other solicitors, giving her both the technical depth and the practical judgement to handle complex and high-stakes matters.

Tiara was named a finalist for the Senior Associate of the Year at the 2026 Australian Law Awards, presented by Lawyers Weekly, and has co-authored an expert analysis chapter for the International Comparative Legal Guide.

What drives Tiara is simple: immigration law is deeply human. Behind every application is a person, a family and a future, and she never loses sight of that. It’s this combination of technical excellence and genuine care that led her to found Onside Immigration Lawyers, where clients get the personalised, strategic representation their circumstances deserve.

Finalist: Senior Associate of the Year, 2026 Australian Law Awards

Tiara Dalpadado was named a finalist for Senior Associate of the Year at the 2026 Australian Law Awards, presented by Lawyers Weekly.

Now in its 26th year, the Australian Law Awards is widely regarded as Australia’s premier legal awards program and “the profession’s biggest night of the year”, bringing together lawyers, firms and in-house teams from across the country to celebrate excellence in the legal industry. The 2026 program drew a record 1,206 submissions, from which just 330 finalists were selected across 36 categories, with every entry independently assessed by a judging panel of senior industry leaders for outstanding performance, leadership and contribution to the profession. Finalists were celebrated at a gala ceremony at The Star, Sydney.

Being named a finalist places Tiara among a small group of lawyers nationally recognised for excellence at this career stage, reflecting the same technical depth and dedication to clients that she brings to every matter at Onside Immigration Lawyers.
